to a b-school.There is a lot of hype before joining the institute and then a heavenly voice speak out "welcome to reality".We get a feeling of a deflated tyre once we know the actuals of a b-school.However insinuative my remark may be, the facts wont change.I am sure many of the students from mediocre b-schools would avow solemnly to my insinuation.

P.S: to all those wannabe MBAs, watch out. There is quick sand!!U might not be able to pull urself out without ur daddy's help...or some other savior's help....;)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11594319.post-1116306525268606962005-05-17T10:38:00.000+05:302005-05-17T10:38:00.000+05:30I faced MICA panelists this year and now in actually comes in touch with the person and you really need to get across the right message..But I got bombed and this blog certainly will help me avoid some bloopers next time round..Priyanka interesting & informative post for a B-sc...A pretty interesting & informative post for a B-school aspirant like me.But I don't seem to agree on the "Why an MBA?" answering bit.Aren't we compromising on ethics when we say, we want it to add value to ourselves and our career or for that matter relate it to some heirarchial mechanism that favours MBA's as our aim ?As an aspirant to a B-school seat one is consistently 'fed' with information through newspapers, business magazines, coaching classes or just about anywhere on the impressive 7 figured placements of the top business schools in the country. No book, magazine or newspaper mentions which eminent professor is a faculty member at a X- B-school(...which I believe can be found out easily only through Google).Moreso a few city B-schools have even gone ahead and given graphic calculations on ROI(Return on Investment) vis-a-vis thier fees and thier average salaries.Isn't it absolutely justifiable then,if an MBA aspirant with decent work-ex in the finance domain were to answer by saying that he wants an MBA coz he would progress on the job, earn a 6lac+ salary and that would be a decent return on his 'investment'?Pardon me if my view appears constrained by my knowledge to just city B-schools,but I guess the picture applies to all the leading B-schools in general and thier interviewing procedures as well.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11594319.post-1115985664022574292005-05-13T17:31:00.000+05:302005-05-13T17:31:00.000+05:30I think it is very important to feel natural In many cases, we do a lot of preparation but when we articulate it, it comes out as not your own opinion but something you have read about.
I believe you need to have a genuine interest in what is happening around and also do some thinking about WHY you want to do this program. Otherwise it will just come out hollow and the panel is usually good enough to see through this.Bibshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01175281634962019545noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11594319.post-1115967162010474652005-05-13T12:22:00.000+05:302005-05-13T12:22:00.000+05:30A really insightful writeup.
